In a Hurry to Get Where?
The season that's asking to let life unfold.
Six months ago, my calendar looked completely different.
Networking events, flights, conferences, coffee catch ups, work and projects. Weekends booked out, my social calendar brimming!
I loved it, genuinely enjoyed being around people, building relationships and feeling like life was moving.
Busy wasn't something I complained about because it was a part of my identity. Fast forward six months and my life couldn't look more different.
Thousands of kilometers away from the life I knew. Most evenings are quiet, weekends are simple, no endless social commitments competing for my attention.
For the first time in a long time, I feel…off the grid and surprisingly, I am good with it. This has caught me off guard and I feel like I’m willing myself to think I’ll get ‘bored’ soon. Like seeing the end of movie credits, roll tape, looping through my mind – What if you get bored of the quiet life, Zee?
I’m still observing my thoughts and figuring out why the constant need to feel or be busy? Maybe I’ll crave the busyness again in the future. Where I'll start looking for more events, people and reasons to fill my calendar, but for now I want the opposite to all of that, even if my thoughts try to tell me otherwise. Of course, I miss my people back home in New Zealand. I miss seeing their faces, sharing stories, laughs and doing life with them.
For now, I’m creating a pocket of peace and protecting my energy, mainly from myself, as I’ve mastered the art of creating a ‘busy’ life. This new timeline, truly is about reading books without rushing to the next chapter, sitting with an idea before moving onto the next one.
I’m beginning to appreciate this chapter for exactly what it is. Not thinking I’m in a holding pattern (this is where I get restless that leads to boredom), no gap to fill or place to be and in a hurry!
Embodying the power of now instead of walking straight past things without a second thought, feels amazing and I feel alive again not just going through the motions.
I've recently started studying, completing a Training and Development qualification and with under two months in my job, there's still lots to learn and this time, I’m not racing to grasp everything overnight.
I'm taking my time to absorb information whilst keeping pace, confidently leaning into the power of transferable skills and for someone who loves planning, creating momentum and building towards the future. The not ‘rushing’ or ‘chasing’, since I flew across the ditch three months ago is a complete one eighty to my former life.
Another thing I’ve noticed, I’m not posting up on social media as much and my outlook on social connections and friendship circles has also changed. I’ve decided I’ll let the universe weave her magic and whoever is meant to be in my proximity and I, in theirs, will be. No longer am I trying to network and constantly aim to expand my circle(s). I’m excited by letting this area of life unfold, really take in the amazing people the universe will serve up, organically.
They say, what you put out, is what you get back, and I am curious to see what I might be attracting into my sphere. I trust the right people will naturally come into my life when the time is right.
There's a certain peace that comes with letting life unfold instead of trying to control every part of it.
I’m starting to see it’s about creating enough space to rediscover what matters and the greatest gift for me right now isn't finding more to do, it’s noticing what I already have. To truly notice and be grateful for each moment that I get to experience. From the people I’ll meet to milestones that’ll achieve, on a personal level.
Which got me thinking, adaptability isn't always about moving at speed and across different things. It can also be slowing down to go fast again…one day…if you/ I choose.
I know this chapter isn't asking me to do more but it is asking for focus and intention. I’m embracing the new pace of less speed and being in a hurry and looking at my surroundings while remaining grounded.

Observations from my week
Protecting your energy creates more clarity than protecting your calendar.
Not every season of life needs to be fast, some are designed for growth.
The Unknown, reminds us to fully appreciate where we are now.
A question to ponder…
Where in your life are you rushing towards a destination instead of experiencing the journey that's already unfolding?
Until next week,
Zee
